Ian Liddell-Grainger | Worst Politicians

The Somerset MP represents Bridgwater, makes the list for his all-round uselessness as an mp as well as his poor behaviour towards anyone but himself. Let's start with his comparing Taunton a town in the UK, which is in an economic straights as much of the UK is, to the war-torn city of Aleppo in Syria, which has been subject to many warring factions resulting in the deaths of many people and the utter destruction of most of the city. An exceedingly callous comparison at the which shows a pattern of behaviour in the MP. Grainger's behaviour in the houses of parliament is allegedly very unprofessional and contributes to the general disbelief of ordinary people about how parliamentarians act towards each other. An accusation levelled at Graner was that he shouted "suicide" at an SNP MP. While the SNP MP was raising the question about what options were available for Scottish MPs to make their voices heard on the issues being spoken about on that day Liddle ...

Christopher Chope | Worst Politicians in the UK

Christopher Chope MP for Chrischurch in Dorset. Chope makes our list not just for a history of voting against human rights, gay rights, support for ex forces personnel, reducing welfare for everyone including the sick and disabled, raising taxes on the poorest but not the richest. You may think this voting record is deplorable, but that's not the least of it. Chope has a habit of obstructing bills especially when it comes to women's issues. He blocked a bill to make taking unsolicited pictures up a skirt an offence. Most recently, he hit the headlines for blocking a bill to make it easier to prevent female genital mutilation. Chope would say that he does this out of principle, he doesn't like private members bills but put in 31 in the last year alone. He also votes consistently against increased parliamentary transparency so his excuse he is trying to make Parliament procedure better would appear to be undone by his own actions. He also appeared in the expe...

Arlene Foster * Worst Politicians UK

Arlene Foster The northern Irish politician and leader of the DUP, Arlene Foster makes this list for leading a party that keeps abortion and equal marriage illegal in Northern Ireland despite polls showing the people would be in favour of allowing these things. While she was head of the department of enterprise trade and investment her crowning achievement was the cash for ash scandal. The scandal erupted when it emerged that a policy run by her department had potentially overspent by at least seven hundred million pounds. The policy was meant to help businesses in Northern Ireland meet the cost of installing renewable technologies. Applicants were entitled to help for up to twenty years. The scheme worked by paying a subsidy for heat generated, however, this was unlimited allowing people to heat with no need and get more money. Despite warnings from a whistleblower in 2013 Foster extended the scheme to the domestic sector. By 2016 more whistleblowers had emerged with one reporting a...

UKs Worst Politicians - Priti Patel

Patel is the former secretary of state for international development, despite having expressed the opinion that it should be abolished. She no longer has that post because of undeclared meetings with Israeli politicians while she was supposed to be on holiday. Meetings with foreign politicians are supposed to be reported to the foreign office if you are a member of the government for obvious reasons. But Patel did not declare these meetings, which was rather concerning as among other meetings she met with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.  After Patel then misled the government and media about the number of meetings and their content, she was forced to resign her position. Most recently Patel has caused controversy by implying that the UK should use the potential of economic harm to Ireland to give the UK leverage in negotiations to leave the EU. Unfortunately for her, this showed historical ignorance as this had connotations that reminded many of the potato fa...

Workers History of England Pre History to the End of Feudalism

A people’s history of England will cover the history of the English working person and their struggles from pre-history to the end of the feudal age. English history is obsessed with kings and queens and the schemes of the ruling classes, I hope this humble video will give people a new perspective on English history to draw inspiration and curiosity from. Before the written records begin, we have only the archaeological record to go on which can answer where and when things happened, social archaeology and anthropology are the best tools we have to help us make assumptions about this far back into the past. These are the tools we must use to look at English society before the Roman period which is just a description we are using to define a geographical area relevant to us and would have not been familiar to the peoples living  at this time . This covers the period from the earliest settlers of England, these people would have been mobile hunter-gatherer groups made u...

Rojava Revolution Explained

Rojava is an area in the north of Syria. Predominantly Kurdish the area has broken away from Bashar Alasads Syrian government and has undertaken a revolution and democratic experiment, they have gained some  mainstream media attention for being one of the only effective forces combating ISIS, however, analysis rarely goes that deep so many people will think they are just another faction in the fractured Syrian conflict. The modern history of Rojava can be traced back to the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, after which the European powers moved into the area, especially France which had control of Syria. The colonial governments and brutal dictators who were backed by the west dominated the middle east region. After world war two the bankrupted European colonials withdrew from the middle east, leaving behind a wave of Arab nationalism which grew in influence after the Arabs defeat at the hands of the newly formed state of Israel. Coups in the Arab nations were to follow ...

Corruption in UK Government, an open Scandal in British politics

In the UK corruption is rarely a topic talked about, especially where Parliament is concerned. We often get the odd scandal such as, Russian donations to the conservative party, cash for questions, the expenses scandal, and lobbying scandals but no effective reforms have taken place after the news cycle has moved onto something else. But corruption continues to be a major issue affecting UK politics from undeclared financial interests to kickbacks to MPs from lobbying. To see how corruption in effects the highest levels of government we will look back to nineteen eleven before this point MP's were not paid which left the institution in the hands of the wealthy. For example, the famous Clive of India, after having made his wealth plundering the nation he was named for, he returned home to dominate local politics, by buying land and being awarded titles for his plundering of India Clive got himself, his cousin his father and his attorney seats in Parliament, allowing him to f...
