Christopher Chope | Worst Politicians in the UK

Christopher Chope MP for Chrischurch in Dorset. Chope makes our list not just for a history of voting against human rights, gay rights, support for ex forces personnel, reducing welfare for everyone including the sick and disabled, raising taxes on the poorest but not the richest.

You may think this voting record is deplorable, but that's not the least of it.

Chope has a habit of obstructing bills especially when it comes to women's issues. He blocked a bill to make taking unsolicited pictures up a skirt an offence. Most recently, he hit the headlines for blocking a bill to make it easier to prevent female genital mutilation.

Chope would say that he does this out of principle, he doesn't like private members bills but put in 31 in the last year alone. He also votes consistently against increased parliamentary transparency so his excuse he is trying to make Parliament procedure better would appear to be undone by his own actions.

He also appeared in the expenses scandal for charging over eight hundred pounds for the repair of a sofa.

We all have the electorate of Christchurch in Devon to thank for this, they have voted for him every year since 1997.

How to fix the UK economy in 7 steps

The UK faces a complex economic challenge: inflation is eroding real incomes, growth is slow, public debt is high, and inequality remains extreme. Meanwhile, a small number of wealthy individuals hold substantial assets, contributing less than their fair share to public services. This plan outlines how we can stabilize the economy, invest in people and infrastructure , and ensure fairness — all explained in clear terms. 1. Fair Contribution from the Wealthiest What we propose: Introduce a modest wealth tax on the richest individuals, with exemptions for small businesses and essential savings. Close loopholes on capital gains and multinational profits. Use the additional revenue for public services, housing, and green projects. Why this matters: Wealth is highly concentrated. Without fair contribution, ordinary citizens bear the brunt of public funding. This step ensures equity and generates resources for growth-enhancing investment. 2. Investing...

The money path: from Ashton to Hove Here’s the clean schematic—no smoke, one mirror: In 2020, the family’s Ashton-under-Lyne home was placed into a trust. Overview of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism

Source: upload.wikimedia.org Marxism-Leninism-Maoism (MLM) is an evolution of Marxist theory, adapting classical Marxism and Leninism to the specific social and political conditions of mid-20th century China. Initially, Marxism provided the analytical framework for understanding the dynamics of capitalism and class conflict, emphasizing the revolutionary potential of the proletariat in achieving a classless society. Leninism later introduced the concept of a vanguard party as the spearhead for the working class's revolutionary aspirations, concretizing the idea of a proletarian state as a transition to socialism. When Mao Zedong came to the fore, he infused these tenets with his experiences from the Chinese revolution. Mao emphasized the role of the peasantry in revolution, the importance of continuous struggle, and the concept of protracted people's war, asserting that guerrilla tactics could eventually topple a more powerful foe. He also introduced the practice of self-cr...
