In the UK corruption is rarely a topic talked about, especially where Parliament is concerned. We often get the odd scandal such as, Russian donations to the conservative party, cash for questions, the expenses scandal, and lobbying scandals but no effective reforms have taken place after the news cycle has moved onto something else. But corruption continues to be a major issue affecting UK politics from undeclared financial interests to kickbacks to MPs from lobbying. You hear news coming out of Venezuela, but the country has been subject to conspiracies to topple the government, and media agencies have hardly given the country unbiased coverage, so what is going on in Venezuela right now? First off, a bit of context. Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world, and, like many South American countries have a history of corrupt politics with inequality and poverty rife despite the natural riches of the country. In 1999, Hugo Chavez became president in a coup where he over through the political elite who were imposing highly unpopular austerity measures on the Venezuelan people. Yemen, a country in the middle east, that borders Saudi Arabia, is in crisis as its war with the Saudis and their allies continues triggering a famine and cry from aid organisations for help. The Yemen is in the middle of a civil war where the capital has been taken by Houthis while the old government, supported by Saudi Arabia, has retreated to the city of Aiden. A Saudi led coalition has been fighting on behalf of the displaced government in Aiden where it has been bombing with illegal arms as well as hitting hospitals and Schools. The chaos has caused famine with half of the population without enough food. Destabilisation has lead to ISIS activity in the country. The US is disgracefully aiding the Saudis and ISIS by refuelling Saudi jets and providing the Saudis with arms and equipment. While Aleppo burns politicians and their corporate media try to benefit from it by spreading half-truths and straight up lies. The news coming out of Aleppo has been tiny, with primary sources in the area at a minimum, as well us unbiased primary sources being basically nonexistent. So instead of being honest and telling people that we are not sure what is going on at this stage in Aleppo they rush to fill the information gap with hearsay and their own bias viewpoint. Russian news is saying that the evacuation of Civilians has been completed with only rebels left in the area. The Syrian Military is saying the evacuation has been suspended Some western news agencies accuse Iran of wanting the evacuation to be stopped so that they can slaughter everyone in the area. Humanitarian agencies are saying there are civilians still in the area, but where they are getting this information from is unclear. The EU has been talking about what it will do during the Brexit negotiations. The main point being what will happen to EU immigrants in the country and what will happen to British people living in the EU. The Prime minister has said she would like to sort the issue as one of the first things addressed in the Brexit Negotiations. Russia has deployed more missiles to target shipping to add to the Nuclear capable Iskander systems as well as the S-400 missiles to Kaliningrad which is close to the border with Poland. The Russians have said that this is in response to the NATO deployment of their defensive shield which includes an anti-missile system in Poland. Russia says that the systems deployed in Kaliningrad would render these defenses pointless, Russia feels this is a checkmate against the increased NATO deployment. The move comes soon after NATO exercises by NATO forces near Russias western border, which was part of the continued worrying saber rattling between Russia and NATO. These missile systems not only represent a potential nuclear threat but also allow Russia to disrupt any movements Baltic countries may make in a combat situation to support each other.
