Arlene Foster The northern Irish politician and leader of the DUP, Arlene Foster makes this list for leading a party that keeps abortion and equal marriage illegal in Northern Ireland despite polls showing the people would be in favour of allowing these things. While she was head of the department of enterprise trade and investment her crowning achievement was the cash for ash scandal. The scandal erupted when it emerged that a policy run by her department had potentially overspent by at least seven hundred million pounds. The policy was meant to help businesses in Northern Ireland meet the cost of installing renewable technologies. Applicants were entitled to help for up to twenty years. The scheme worked by paying a subsidy for heat generated, however, this was unlimited allowing people to heat with no need and get more money. UKs Worst Politicians - Priti Patel

Patel is the former secretary of state for international development, despite having expressed the opinion that it should be abolished. She no longer has that post because of undeclared meetings with Israeli politicians while she was supposed to be on holiday. Meetings with foreign politicians are supposed to be reported to the foreign office if you are a member of the government for obvious reasons. But Patel did not declare these meetings, which was rather concerning as among other meetings she met with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.  After Patel then misled the government and media about the number of meetings and their content, she was forced to resign her position. Most recently Patel has caused controversy by implying that the UK should use the potential of economic harm to Ireland to give the UK leverage in negotiations to leave the EU. Unfortunately for her, this showed historical ignorance as this had connotations that reminded many of the potato famine
